The Junior Photo Club by Ricky’s Tilted Tripod is a fun, beginner-friendly program designed to introduce young photographers to the art of photography while encouraging creativity and curiosity.
Members will receive fun photography challenges, easy-to-follow tips, and hands-on activities that teach the basics of lighting, angles, composition, portraits, action photography, storytelling, and more.
No fancy camera is required! Kids can participate using a phone, tablet, digital camera, or whatever camera they have available.
Parents and guardians sign up to receive new photography challenges, helpful tips, activities, and Junior Photo Club updates that families can enjoy together.
Whether your child already loves taking pictures or is picking up a camera for the first time, the Junior Photo Club is all about learning, experimenting, creating, and having fun with photography.
The Junior Photo Club is designed primarily for young photographers ages 8–15. Challenges are written to be fun, easy to understand, and beginner-friendly
Have a younger photographer who wants to join? 📷
Children under 8 are welcome to participate too! Because some challenges may require a little extra reading, instruction, or help using a camera or device, we recommend that a parent or guardian participate alongside younger photographers.
Whether they're using a phone, tablet, digital camera, or their first "real" camera, the goal is the same:
Explore. Create. Learn. Capture.
See the world in new ways.
Turn everyday moments into great photos.
Build new photography skills with every challenge.

The Junior Photo Club is a free program from Ricky’s Tilted Tripod designed to help young photographers learn the basics of photography through fun, easy-to-follow challenges and activities they can complete at home and with their families.
The club is designed for kids and teens who are interested in photography, whether they have never taken photos before or already enjoy being behind the camera.
Not at all! A phone, tablet, point-and-shoot camera, DSLR, mirrorless camera, or just about any device capable of taking photos will work. The goal is to learn how to create better photographs, not to have expensive equipment.
No. The Junior Photo Club is beginner-friendly and teaches photography concepts in a simple, approachable way.
The Junior Photo Club is free to join.
A parent or guardian signs up for the club. Members will receive photography challenges, tips, activities, and other Junior Photo Club content that kids can work through at their own pace.
New photography challenges are planned approximately twice a month, giving Junior Photographers plenty of time to complete each activity before the next one arrives.
Challenges will introduce concepts such as composition, lighting, camera angles, portraits, action photography, focus, color, storytelling, nature photography, and more.
No. The program is meant to be fun! Kids can complete as many challenges as they would like and work at their own pace.
The Challenge Tracker lets Junior Photographers keep track of their progress as they complete the Junior Photo Club Challenge Series. The first series includes 12 different photography challenges.
Yes! Junior Photographers who complete the full Challenge Series can receive a Junior Photo Club Certificate of Completion celebrating their accomplishment.
That's something we'd love to offer as the Junior Photo Club grows! Future activities could include photography walks, special events, and beginner photography workshops. Any in-person activity would be announced to parents and guardians ahead of time.
Photo submissions may be added to the program in the future. Any submission or sharing of a child's photography would be handled through a parent or guardian, with clear information about how submitted photos may be used.
Photos of or submitted by Junior Photo Club members will not automatically be posted publicly. If Ricky’s Tilted Tripod would like to feature a child's work, permission would first be obtained from the parent or guardian.
The Junior Photo Club is designed with families in mind. Club communications are sent to the parent or guardian rather than directly to the child.
Absolutely! We encourage parents and guardians to participate, help with challenges, and even take their own photos. Photography is a great activity to learn and enjoy together.
Parents and guardians can contact Ricky’s Tilted Tripod for help. We're happy to explain a photography concept or provide some extra guidance when needed.
The goal isn't to take a "perfect" picture. It's to help young photographers explore, create, learn, and capture while discovering their own way of seeing the world.
